COVID-19 Spring Booster

This spring, the NHS is offering the COVID-19 vaccine to those at highest risk from severe illness.

Those eligible for the COVID-19 spring booster vaccine are:

  • People aged 75 and older

  • Residents in care homes for older people

  • Those aged 5 and over who have weakened immune systems.

If you are eligible for a spring booster, you will be contacted by the NHS by letter, text message or via the NHS App.

The NHS will prioritise those whose clinical need is greatest, as it has throughout the vaccination programme, starting with those who have had a bigger gap since their last dose. People who are eligible for a vaccine should make sure appointments take place at least three months after their last dose.

Spring booster appointments will be available until 30 June.

The current offer of first and second vaccinations for everyone aged five on or before 31 August last year will end at the same time. After this date, not everyone will be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine from the NHS as the offer will become more targeted to those at risk and will be offered seasonally.

Primary doses (1st and 2nd)

The primary vaccine offer is evergreen, so whether it’s a first or second dose, people who have not yet come forward for their vaccine can do until the end of June.
