Private Letters
If you want a doctor to write you a letter about your conditions, then this counts as a private letter.
Private letters do not form part of our NHS work for which we are commissioned as an NHS GP service and are not obligated to provide
If you do want a private letter, we may be able to provide one but there will be a charge for this service. We cannot provide emergency letters and cannot promise letters with a quick turnaround, as we have to prioritise our NHS care.
Please speak to reception so we can provide you with a private referral request form, which then goes to the administration team for review. We cannot give NHS appointments to discuss private letters.
If you require a letter for the council (e.g. for council housing), for the Department of works and Pensions or for solicitors, please ask these groups to contact us directly before we can issue the letter.
If you require a referral to a private specialist doctor, and the GP has agreed a referral is required, then you do not need to pay for a private referral letter. If a doctor has agreed to sick note, then there is no charge for this.
